Some useful tips
Before applying any facial mask clean your face and neck with fresh water. Take off all cosmetics, creams, lotions, in short: everything. Use a non abrasive, non aggressive soap if necessary. When finished, pat your skin dry
Even better is to take a hot shower or a steam bath to clean and open up your pores. For some useful steam bath suggestions & tips check our steam bath page
When you have applied the homemade acne mask of choice make sure you take your time to lie down, place a towel under your head and neck. Put 2 cucumber slices on your eyes; or use 2 used and cooled down chamomile teabags (our personal favorite!) or 2 cotton pads soaked in rose or lavender water
But most important:
Think positive, happy thoughts and relax... this is actually half of the secret of these recipes!
To make your face mask experience even more satisfying we suggest you check our quick facial tips page. These will smooth things out just a little bit more

Note     Note     Note
remember that all people are individuals and all cases of acne are personal, not every cause of acne is the same. What works for one person in one situation does not necessarily do the same for somebody else. If one remedy or acne mask does not immediately work, don't despair and try another one. Look around for the ones that work for you
Also be aware that facial masks can easily irritate your skin, especially if you leave them on too long and they start to dry. And irritating your skin is the last thing you want to do, try to be friends!
Caution     Caution     Caution
before you apply any mask, we recommend you do a patch test on a small piece of skin (e.g behind your ear) to test your sensitivity to it
