Most Basic Homemade body scrubs


The most basic body scrub is to simply apply 1 of the useful scrub ingredients from the list above, like

  • Sugar
  • Sea salt
  • Oatmeal
  • Cornmeal
  • Coffee


Take it and mix with some warm water and gently scrub your skin. You could also use milk, buttermilk, yogurt, honey, Olive oil, citrus juice, or vegetable or essential oils as a basis to mix them with. The combinations are almost endless

That was not too difficult? After this you can also add whatever ingredient you think will satisfy your needs; just do some delicate experimenting, but always keep your skin type in mind

A basic and refreshing homemade body scrub, it cleanses and exfoliates


What do you need:

  • 1/2 fresh Orange (juice)
  • 4 tablespoons Cornmeal


How to do it:

Squeeze the juice and pulp out of the ½ orange, mix these together with the cornmeal until you have a smooth pas Scrub your body and face gently with this sweet scrub for 2-3 minutes. Then rinse it off with cold water; pat your skin; tone and moisturize

What do you need:

  • 3 tablespoons Cornmeal
  • Buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon Extra virgin Olive oil


How to do it:

Mix the cornmeal with the olive oil and enough buttermilk to make a smooth paste

Gently scrub your face and body in circular motions Then rinse it off with cold water; pat your skin; tone and moisturize

  • 1 tablespoon finely ground Almonds
  • 1 tablespoon dark organic Honey

Warm up the honey until it becomes runny (not too hot!) by putting it in a small glass or metal bowl which is immersed in hot water (or a few seconds in the microwave)

Mix the honey and the rest of the ingredients until you have a smooth paste. Rub them in a circular motion onto your body and gently massage to exfoliate. Leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse off with warm water; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer

What do you need:

  • 1/4 cup (Brown) Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Aloe vera gel


How to do it:

A very simple cleansing homemade body scrub. The salicylic acid in the aspirin removes dead skin cells while conditioning the skin. Often used in acne treatments, but also very useful as a full body scrub


What do you need:

  • 10-12 uncoated Aspirin
  • Fresh mineral Water


How to do it:

Crush the aspirin to a fine powder, add a few drops of water to form a thin smooth paste. Rub it in circular motions onto your body and face. Leave it for 10 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

What do you need:

  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1 tablespoon dark organic Honey

  • 2 cups of Dead Sea salt

  • 4 tablespoons Aloe vera gel
  • 10-15 drops Lime essential oil

How to do it:

Mix all the ingredients well; what is left after 1 treatment you can store in a sealed jar

What do you need:

  • 1 cup Oatmeal
  • 4 tablespoons finely ground Almonds

  • 1 teaspoon dried crushed peppermint
  • 1 teaspoon dried crushed Chamomile flowers
  • Fuller’s Earth


How to do it:

Mix all the ingredients, except for the Fuller’s earth, well. Keep this in a sealed jar or container

Take 2 heaping teaspoons of the mixture and blend it with 1 teaspoon of the Fuller’s earth. Add enough water to make a smooth paste

Rub this onto your skin and gently massage. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes. Wash it off with warm water and a warm, damp washcloth. End with a splash of cold water. Pat your skin with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

A healing, cleaning and hydrating body scrub recipe


What do you need:

  • 1/2 cup Dead Sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon Tea tree oil
  • 1 teaspoon Peppermint oil
  • 6 tablespoons Avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons Aloe vera gel
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin Olive oil


How to do it:

Mix all the ingredients well. Use what you need and the rest you can store in a sealed jar

Massage this gently onto your clean skin. Then wash it off with alternately cold and warm water; end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize




Some words of Caution

A lot of fruits contain citric acid. Lemon, lime and orange (juice) in specific. When you use them in a skin treatment always be careful with how much you use. Too much can cause acid burns. Also if you have sensitive skin be extra aware with these ingredients

Same goes for all essential oils, this is really powerful stuff; be very careful what and how much you use

Because you can never be too careful when it comes to your skin, always do a patch test on a small piece of skin (e.g. behind the ear) to see how your skin reacts to separate ingredients
