Basic 1 ingredient homemade facial scrub


A basic, homemade face scrub, it scrubs, cleanses and stretches your facial skin


What do you need:

  • 1 of the ingredients from the list above


How to do it:

Wash your face with lukewarm water, then put your wet hands in your chosen ingredient and spread it on your face in circular motions and gently massage to exfoliate

Let it say on for 10 minutes. Then wet your hands again and massage your face with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer to "seal" your skin and keep moisture inside


That was not too difficult? Like we mentioned above, instead of sugar you could also use oatmeal, baking soda or any grainy product that will gently scrub your facial skin. Read on to see for more facial scrub possibilities

Tomato & Sugar homemade facial scrub


What do you need:

  • 1 fresh Tomato
  • Brown sugar


How to do it:

Cut one fresh tomato in quarters. Take a piece and dip it in the sugar, gently rub it in circular motions onto your clean face and neck; avoid the eye area. Leave it for 5 minutes

Then massage a tomato part without sugar in a circular motion onto your face to cover your skin with tomato juice. Let it dry for a few minutes and then rinse your skin with fresh cool water; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer

Almond, Honey & Lemon homemade facial scrub


What do you need:

  • 1 tablespoon dark organic Honey
  • 2 tablespoons finely ground Almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh Lemon juice


How to do it:

Warm up the honey until it becomes runny (not too hot!) by putting it in a small glass or metal bowl which is immersed in hot water (or a few seconds in the microwave)

Mix the honey and the rest of the ingredients and rub them in a circular motion onto your face and gently massage to exfoliate; avoid the eyearea. Leave it on for 5 minutes then rinse off with warm water; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer

Sea salt & Olive oil homemade facial scrub


A conditioning homemade face scrub. The sea salt exfoliates, detoxifies and cleanses while the humectant honey will attract water and seal it where it belongs: under your skin. (Olive oil is also an effective moisturizer)


What do you need:

  • 2 tablespoons Sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin Olive oil
  • or 1 tablespoon dark organic Honey


How to do it:

Mix the ingredients and rub in circular motion onto your face and gently massage to exfoliate. Rinse it off with alternately cold and warm water, end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer

A very simple cleansing homemade face scrub. The salicylic acid in the aspirin removes dead skin cells while conditioning the skin. Often used in acne treatments


What do you need:

  • 5-7 uncoated Aspirin
  • Fresh mineral Water


How to do it:

Crush the aspirin to a fine powder, add a few drops of water to form a thin smooth paste. Rub it in circular motions onto your face. Leave it for 10 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and apply moisturizer

What do you need:

  • 1/4 cup cold Plain unflavored Yogurt, with active cultures
  • 1/4 cup of ground or powdered Walnuts


How to do it:

What do you need:

  • 1 dry Fig


How to do it:

Cut a dry fig in half, dip one half in lukewarm water and rub it onto your clean face and gently massage to exfoliate. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

What do you need:

  • 1 tablespoon finely ground Almonds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mayonnaise


How to do it:

Mix the ingredients, rub it onto your clean face in circular motions and gently massage to exfoliate. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

This homemade face scrub leaves your skin smooth and soft, while the lemon helps to brighten your complexion


What do you need:

  • 2 tablespoon Salt
  • 1/2 fresh Lemon (juice)
  • some Sugar


How to do it:

Mix the salt and lemon juice and add enough sugar until it is thick enough but not too dry. Rub it onto your clean face in circular motions and gently massage to exfoliate. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes. Then wash it off with alternately cold and warm warm water, end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

Mint, Sugar, Honey & Olive oil homemade facial scrub


What do you need:

  • Mint leaves
  • 3 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon dark organic Honey
  • 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin Olive oil


How to do it:

First make a very strong pot of mint tea and put it aside to cool down. Then warm up the honey as mentioned above. Mix the honey, sugar, and olive oil together well.

Put a teaspoon of the mint tea tea into your honey, sugar and olive oil mix, and mix well again. Put the remaining mint tea in the fridge. Apply the scrub to your face in circular motions and gently massage to exfoliate. You can even leave it on as a mask if you wish

Finally wash it off with the rest of the cold mint tea; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

What do you need:

  • 1/2 cup peeled Sunflower seeds
  • Mineral water


How to do it:

Grind the sunflower seeds to a powder with a food processor. Mix it with a few drops of water to make a consistent paste. Massage this gently onto your clean face. Then wash it off with fresh cold water; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

Skin softening facial scrub. The cornmeal gently exfoliates and works together with the buttermilk and olive oil to condition and hydrate dry skin


What do you need:

  • 2 tablespoons Oatmeal
  • Buttermilk
  • extra virgin Olive oil


How to do it:

Mix the oatmeal with enough buttermilk and a bit of olive oil to make a smooth paste. Massage this gently onto your clean face. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

No it's not a desert...although...


What do you need:

  • Orange peel
  • Ground Coffee
  • Plain unflavored Yogurt, with active cultures


How to do it:

Dry the orange peels in the sun. Then grind them to a powder and mix it with some freshly ground coffee. Add some yogurt to it until you have a smooth scrub. Massage this gently in circular motions onto your clean face. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize

Brown and White sugar, Oatmeal, Almond oil, Cinnamon & Vanilla homemade facial scrub


An all-in homemade face scrub that leaves your skin feeling soft, silky smooth and smelling wonderfully fresh


What do you need:

  • 1 tablespoon dark Brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon White sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Oatmeal flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon Almond oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pure Vanilla extract


How to do it:

Mix all the ingredients and massage it gently in circular motions onto your clean face. Leave it for 2-3 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water and end with a splash of cold; pat your skin dry with a clean towel. Finally tone and moisturize




Some words of Caution

A lot of fruits contain citric acid. Lemon, lime and orange (juice) in specific. When you use them in a skin treatment always be careful with how much you use. Too much can cause acid burns. Also if you have sensitive skin be extra aware with these ingredients

Same goes for all essential oils, this is really powerful stuff; be very careful what and how much you use

Because you can never be too careful when it comes to your skin, always do a patch test on a small piece of skin (e.g. behind the ear) to see how your skin reacts to separate ingredients
