…and the ingredients, a food processor or mixing bowl of course

Why a red wine face mask, what’s in it for me
…or my skin?

Red wine contains high levels of antioxidant polyphenols, which are beneficial in keeping your skin healthy. Generally red wine when used in skin care products fights free radicals, stimulates blood circulation, rejuvenates, increases skin elasticity, eases the nerves, firms, whitens, and leaves your skin bright and glowing

These stimulating properties make that red wine softens wrinkles and fine lines and is altogether very useful in battling the effects of aging skin

Also in cases of acne and eczema red wine is also considered to be good for detoxifying the skin and in this way helping your skin against these kind of skin disorders

Some useful tips

Before applying any facial mask clean your face and neck with fresh water. Take off all cosmetics, creams, lotions, in short: everything. Use a non abrasive, non aggressive soap if necessary. When finished, pat your skin dry

Even better is to take a hot shower or a steam bath to clean and open up your pores. For some useful steam bath suggestions & tips check our steam bath page

When you have applied the red wine face mask of choice make sure you take your time to lie down, place a towel under your head and neck. Put 2 cucumber slices on your eyes; or use 2 used and cooled down chamomile teabags (our personal favorite!) or 2 cotton pads soaked in rose or lavender water

But most important:

Think positive, happy thoughts and relax...
this is actually half of the secret of these recipes!

Red wine face masks

Pamper and treat yourself by making and using these red wine face masks. Shift your mind to the good things in life, put on a smile and Enjoy!

Note: to preserve the polyphenols (and the taste as well) in red wine you should keep the bottle closed. When red wine comes into contact with air (oxygen) it starts the oxidation process leaving the wine undrinkable and ineffective for skin care
